Seeks to have COVID-19 vaccine by January.
Late last week, President Trump announced the new initiative by the White House to focus resources to find a vaccine for COVID-19 as quickly as possible. Dubbed, “Operation Warp Speed” by the president, the plan would finish research, manufacture, and distribute the much-needed vaccine by January of next year. President Trump likened the plan to World War II research into nuclear weapons.
“Operation Warp Speed, that means big and it means fast,” said the president “A massive scientific and industrial, logistic endeavor, unlike anything our country has seen since the Manhattan Project.” The program is evaluating over 100 vaccine candidates from around the world to narrow down to the 14 strongest contenders.
