Future outbreaks will be met with adequate preparation.
President Trump visited a medical distribution center in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Thursday. After touring the facility, he spoke about the depleted stockpile that the nation faced when the pandemic broke out. The Strategic National Stockpile, created after 9/11 for terrorist threats, had not been not designed nor supplied for pandemics such as the coronavirus. The president affirmed that the nation will be well prepared for any future virus outbreaks by the replenished national stockpile.
A 90-day supply, with millions of masks, gowns, and critical care drugs, is being inventoried to address any “possible flare ups” during the reopening of the nation. President Trump also issued an Executive Order under the Defense Production Act to grant targeted loans for the support of the production of supplies that address COVID-19. Addressing global supply chain challenges and highlighting the necessity of protecting lives and jobs within the U.S., American manufacturing companies are producing the majority of these supplies.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president as he oversees the replenishing of medical supplies for the national stockpile.
- For the makers of the supplies and their employees to be protected from the pandemic.
- That the U.S. would effectively recover from COVID-19 without major resurgences of illness.
