President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are remaining in Washington, D.C., and will be staying at the White House today. They have no public events on their schedule at this time, but the president is expected to continue meeting with federal officials and national figures as part of the economic recovery efforts.
On Friday, the president made the official proclamation of Emergency Medical Services Week. He said that, during the week of May 17th through May 23rd, “we honor all of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers who play such a critical role in our Nation’s health and safety.” He added, “They have made significant contributions and immeasurable sacrifices during our nation’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, one of the most daunting and demanding challenges the country has ever faced.”
The president concluded by encouraging all American’s to join him and to “observe this occasion by showing their support for local EMS professionals through appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.”
