2 Corinthians 10:5 – We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
Are your thoughts running away with you? Are you playing “what if” and “if only” games in your mind? Just as what you put into your mouth can have a beneficial or delirious effect on your health, so what you let your mind turn to with can affect what you think. God has given you a way to rid your unhealthy thoughts and the behaviors that follow it, and regain the self-control you desire. “Take every thought captive” it says in today’s verse.
How do you do that? You have the first censorship over your thought life—where you let your mind go is your responsibility. It becomes important, then, to think on the right things…things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable (Philippians 4:8). Retrain your mind. God will empower you to focus, and the more you do, the easier it will become.
Pray With Us
Heavenly Father, once again You have shown me that You care for every bit of me, including the ways that I think. Through Your Holy Spirit, power has been provided, heavenly power, to help me take control of my thoughts, to take them captive to You. Help me to keep a reference on true things, noble ideas, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and praiseworthy ideas and words. It is my desire to please You in all that I do. Help me gain power over my mind and thoughts today. I honor You, Lord God, for all that You are and do, and I bless Your Holy Name.
Amen.
