Trust Me on This

How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable His ways! – Roman 11:33

Why is the sky blue? Have you ever had a child ask you a question that had no answer they could possibly comprehend, yet you attempted to answer it anyway?  At some point in that conversation did you look into that little face and say… just trust me on this!

Living by faith is uncomfortable when the answer to many of your questions involves a “just trust me on this” component. God asks His followers to rest in His plan, relinquishing control over seemingly critical parts of their lives, including the big things like jobs and health. But consigning yourself to Him never means moving forward without a solid foundation of hope. In his letter to the Ephesians Paul offers a blessing to people living in uncertain times. You can include yourself and today’s world leaders in it, read it out loud: “that God may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith – that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:16-19).

Your greatest concerns may be far from resolved today but the evidence of God’s love will sustain you – Jesus Christ is a firm foundation in trying times. Pray for leaders across America to join you in looking beyond their own understanding and placing their trust and hope in Him.

Today’s Verse: Romans 11:33

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. 11 For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So death is at work in us, but life in you.
