Meat packing industry environment not sole cause of outbreaks, says Secretary Azar.
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar has indicated that the tragic spread of the pandemic in workers at meat packing plants has been exacerbated by employees’ lifestyles. His observation was made during a call with congressional members in recent weeks.
A statement released by Michael Caputo, a Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson, said, “in addition to the meat packing plants themselves, many workers at certain remote and rural meatpacking facilities have living conditions that involve multifamily and congregate living, which have been conducive to rapid spread of the disease.”
Certain state officials have made similar observations about the infection rates of meat-processing employees being effected by factors outside of the workplace.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Azar and the HHS Department as they seek to stem the spread of the virus.
- That all relevant causes of the outbreaks of illness would be considered and evaluated by the Administration.
- For Defense Production Act to be effective in supporting the meat packing industry.
