President Donald Trump will remain at the White House in Washington, D.C. today. He will meet with the national security team and senior military leadership in the afternoon.
The killing of an Iranian general via an airstrike in January made some lawmakers anxious about President Trump’s willingness to utilize military force. Regarding his constitutional authority, the president said, “We live in a hostile world of evolving threats and the Constitution recognizes that the president must be able to anticipate our adversaries’ next moves and take swift and decisive action in response.”
On Wednesday, the president vetoed a U.S. Senate resolution that would have required congressional authorization before military action could be taken against Iran. The next day the Senate fell far short of the two-thirds majority necessary to override President Trump’s veto.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for the president and his advisors as they evaluate the situation with Iran and other hostile nations.
- For the national security team and military leadership to be discerning in their recommendations to President Trump.
