His Story

You, O Lord, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name. – Isaiah 63:16

From before the beginning of time and the creation of the world to Revelation 21, God is telling a story. It’s one of a loving God desiring a relationship with His people, knowing all along they’d fail Him. He made a covenant with Abraham who came to Him by faith. He almost had Abraham sacrifice his son Isaac, foreshadowing what He would do Himself to provide redemption. Then through Abraham’s descendent Moses, God gave the law to show the difference between good and evil and that people cannot keep the law on their own.

Then Jesus came providing salvation. But the story does not end there. Jesus told of what will happen in the last days, which is almost indistinguishable from what is in today’s news. Then comes the glorious ending where God will be with His people. “And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb” (Revelation 21:23).

It’s a story that has taken thousands of years, will take at least a thousand years more and then through all eternity. Every story from the shortest poem to the longest novel has a point. God’s story can be summed up in His desire to love His people and be loved by them. The crucifixion of Jesus was the only way the Lord’s Holiness and sinful people could meet. It’s an old story. And a new one. Embrace this loving Father in Christ and pray for a great revival in these end times. Pray for the leaders of this country to stand strong for the Lord.

Today’s Verse: Isaiah 63:16

For you are our Father,
    though Abraham does not know us,
    and Israel does not acknowledge us;
you, O Lord, are our Father,
    our Redeemer from of old is your name.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
