Democrat-run committee will be focused on relief spending.
On Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the House members who would make up the newly created special committee focused on the oversight of COVID-19 relief spending. Trillions of dollars have already been apportioned for bringing relief to individuals, small businesses, and corporations hit by the pandemic.
The members appointed by Speaker Pelosi are Representatives Maxine Waters from California, Carolyn Maloney from New York, Nydia Velázquez from New York, Bill Foster from Illinois, Jamie Raskin from Maryland, and Andy Kim from New Jersey. The fully Democrat committee seeks to work as a check on the executive branch’s distribution of relief funding.
