1 Peter 1:13 – Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ
The president and his team of advisers have distributed new guidelines to state governors to assist them in evaluating the reopening of the economy in their regions, and ways to do it in phases. There does seem to be a glimmer of hope from the light at the end of the tunnel. But be cautious! You may be one of the one-in-seven Americans who has been furloughed or without work as a result of this COVID-19 virus. And, even if you aren’t, you are probably chomping at the bit to get things back to normal. Whatever happens and whenever it does, “normal” won’t be what you knew in December or early January before this coronavirus hit the world.
Today’s verse could not be more appropriate for such a time as this. Get ready. Be mentally prepared to move into the new normal. Stay alert and watchful, being careful to maintain your own health and that of your community. Above all, put your hope where it belongs—on Jesus Christ—not on the government, or on stimulus funds, or food banks. As Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”
Pray With Us
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, for You are faithful. You have walked this troublesome time right beside me, and I have felt Your presence there. In my quiet times, when I am stressed or when I am joyful, I know that You still have a plan for me and that You are working it out. You also have a plan, O God, for this country. Give wisdom beyond understanding to the men and women, the politicians, the medical workers, the bankers, as they seek to guide us back into a flourishing economy. Give me grace to see each day through. I long for Your return, Lord Jesus, and pray in Your Majestic Name that is above all names,
Amen.
