Virus 10 times worse than the flu.
The number of confirmed deaths due to the COVID-19 virus in the United States surpassed 10,000 on Monday according to a tracker created by Johns Hopkins University. Fatalities have increased from a rate of 500 per day to over 1,000. The White House released information that as many as 240,000 people could die as a result of the virus in the days to come.
According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious disease expert, the death rate from COVID-19 is 10 times more deadly than the flu. “This is tough,” he said, emphasizing the need for efforts to reduce the number of people with the disease “People are suffering. People are dying. It’s inconvenient from a societal standpoint, from an economic standpoint to go through this, but this is going to be the answer to our problems.”
