President Donald Trump has one public event on his schedule at this time. He will be taking part in the White House Corona Virus Task Force press briefing.
As part of Wednesday’s briefing, the president announced that the U.S. National Guard has been activated across the nation in response to the outbreak. They will continue helping to build field hospitals and provide care to those in need. In addition, due to the threat of the virus overwhelming hospital systems around the nation, the president restated the federal guidelines and urged Americans to stay home to avoid exposure, “If you don’t get the virus, you can’t pass it on.”
With over 200,000 confirmed cases by the end of the day Wednesday, the president also reiterated that the numbers will climb over the next couple weeks until the efforts of social distancing and self-quarantining take effect. If Americans follow the guidelines, officials expect to begin seeing a drop in the number of new cases.
