President Donald Trump is taking part in a phone meeting with various supply chain distribution companies to discuss their response to the coronavirus. Both with the disruption of the status quo and increase in demand for medical, hygiene, food, and other basic necessities products, the president is expected to look for ways that the federal government can partner with private companies to better enable them to meet the needs of the American people.
The president met with supply chain companies earlier in the month as well. White House Spokesman Judd Deere said at the time, “The president reminded the participants that this is an all-of-America approach and each of their stores and the stores they support can help Americans feel calm and safe when shelves are stocked with the items they need.” He reiterated, “Supply chains in the United States are strong, and it is unnecessary for the American public to hoard daily essentials.”
In the afternoon, the president will take part in a briefing with the White House Coronavirus Task Force.
