New court ruling opens options for targeted actions
President Trump announced on Thursday that the federal government would begin targeting cities, counties, and states that are commonly known as sanctuary cities. These cities and municipalities do not allow their law enforcement agencies to provide information to federal agencies regarding the immigration status of individuals living there.
According to a ruling by the 2nd court of appeals, the President can withhold funding based on cooperation on immigration policy. The President tweeted that cities ought to better cooperate with federal agencies saying, “As per recent Federal Court ruling, the Federal Government will be withholding funds from Sanctuary Cities. They should change their status and go non-Sanctuary. Do not protect criminals.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God would guide President Trump on how to set immigration policy in the U.S.
- For Congress to have wisdom on the best laws to put in place to address those who are undocumented in our country.
- For the Supreme Court to have discernment about whether or not they should take up an appeal of this case.
