Decision confirmed by Secretary Esper
The Pentagon has approved shifting $3.8 billion in funds that Congress had previously authorized for F-35 fighter aircraft and other military programs to help the Department of Homeland Security build portions of the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico. The Pentagon indicated that more such actions could be coming to provide additional funding for the wall.
The action has drawn sharp rebuke from lawmakers. But Defense Secretary Mark Esper, defending the Pentagon action, said on Friday, “Border security is national security, and national security is our mission.” He added, “The action we took is legal under the law, and so it should be no surprise, and I’ll just leave it at that for now.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Defense Secretary Esper as he works with the president to determine how to best use defense funds.
- For God to guide the officials in the Department of Homeland Security as they work to protect America’s border.
