SITE Summit 3.0 Unites Global Zero Trust Experts

Zero Trust network security is simultaneously under development in U.S. agencies.

Defense Joint Staff J-6 recently hosted the third Security Interoperability in the Tactical Environment (SITE) Summit in Suffolk, Virginia. The summit brought together Zero Trust experts from the U.S. military, allies, and partners to enhance data-centric interoperability in diverse tactical scenarios. Representatives from coalition partners, including the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, participated in the event. The gathering focused on Zero Trust minimum requirements for secure data exchange at tactically relevant speeds.

Zero Trust, a network security framework, mandates user authentication, authorization, and continuous validation to enhance system protection against vulnerabilities exposed by high-level breaches. SITE Summits serve as platforms for the U.S. and mission partners to address implementation challenges and successes in the Zero Trust tactical environment, which aims to strengthen Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control capabilities crucial for decision advantage.

The U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is strategizing the implementation of zero-trust capabilities across over 1,300 systems, requiring a distinctive approach to align with the intelligence community and Defense Department objectives. Meanwhile, the Energy Department is currently focusing on a workforce-centric approach in its journey to zero trust, investing in employee training to ensure a common understanding of zero trust principles.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Pentagon officials as they collaborate on Zero Trust security frameworks.
  • For Secretary Granholm and U.S. energy personnel as they work with other government agencies to secure data networks.
  • For Vice Admiral Frank Whitworth as he heads the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
