Issue 666 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

Four Russian military aircraft were detected by North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) in Alaska’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) this week. The U.S. Army increased the number of service members at Shemya Island, Alaska, due to increased military drills by Russia in the region.

Pray for the defense secretary and secretaries of the U.S. Armed Forces as they determine where to deploy U.S. troops.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

President Biden and Vice President Harris are meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky to discuss the current status of the war with Russia. The Ukrainian leader presented his vision for victory before the United Nations General Assembly this week.

For wisdom for U.S. officials as they consider the Ukrainian leader’s military strategies.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

Israel carried out strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon after intercepting a surface-to-surface in Tel Aviv. The United States has continued to seek a way to reduce the conflict as Israel and Hezbollah have conducted hundreds of cross-border strikes.

Pray for discernment for U.S. leaders as they seek methods to decrease the conflict in the Middle East.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services has called for additional oversight of Medicare’s remote patient monitoring. Since the pandemic, the use of blood pressure cuffs, connected scales, and continuous glucose monitors to send information directly to physicians has greatly increased. The federal watchdog reported the potential for fraudulent Medicare billing related to patient monitoring.

Pray for U.S. Medicare officials as they consider the inspector general’s report and respond to fraud concerns.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The Arizona secretary of state acknowledged that 97,000 non-citizens have been registered to vote. He said the legal residents were incorrectly registered over the past 20 years due to a state system error that automatically registered driver license applicants to vote. The state is being sued for not reviewing and removing non-citizens from voter rolls.

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has issued an executive order that prohibits state agencies from procuring lab-grown or other meat alternatives. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture is implementing updated labeling requirements distinguishing actual meat from manufactured proteins “to protect consumers from being misled.“ The governor seeks a total ban on the sale of meat alternatives in the state by 2025.

Pray for state governors and secretaries of state as they address election and nutrition concerns in their jurisdictions.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

Our Father in Heaven, we hide beneath the shadow of Your wings until the danger passes. We cry to You because we have so often received help from Your throne. Thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness.
Lord, continue to provide for all the needs of our lawmakers, giving them strength for struggles and success, for shadows and sunshine, for valleys and mountain summits. Awaken in them such a fresh appreciation for this great land that they will be prepared to pay the high price for freedom.
Today, give us all a love for right so that we may be instruments for Your glory.“
– Senate Chaplain Barry Black, September 2024
